Holiday Roasted Turkey

Frugal Family Recipes (featured column)
by Michelle Jones

Contrary to popular belief, you don't need the most expensive brand to have a wonderful roasted turkey for Thanksgiving or Christmas! Buy the cheaper (store brand) turkey for the holidays to save money, and then use my recipe to make it fabulous!

Ingredients:

1 large frozen turkey, thawed (usually takes 3-4 days depending on size)
1 celery stalk, cut in half
1 medium onion, cut in half
1 orange, cut in half
1 T. flour
1 Reynolds Oven Bag Turkey Size

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove inside package of giblets and rinse turkey, inside and out, then pat dry with paper towel. Place cut up veggies and orange into the cleaned out turkey cavity (these are not for eating, just flavoring).

Open the oven cooking bag and add 1 T. flour, then hold bag closed and shake flour to coat the inside of bag evenly. Lay bag gently in roasting pan that's at least 2 inches high and place turkey inside bag. Close bag with nylon tie and cut 6 1/2-inch slits in top.

Place turkey in oven and bake for the amount of time listed in
Reynolds box. It's about half the usual roasting time!

No matter which brand you use, this cooking method will produce a moist, tender, and absolutely delicious turkey for your holiday meal. Enjoy!
