Homemade Halloween Costumes for Kids: Little Red

Little red riding hood costume 1

"Little Red Riding Hood and the Huntsman"

This Halloween was special because my husband missed the previous one, he was deployed to Afghanistan. It was the first year where they both were able to really participate in Trick or Treating and I really wanted to be able to do something inexpensive but fun.

I LOVE coordinating costumes and my best friend as well, so we chose fairy tale theme. Mine children were Red Riding Hood and the Huntsman, her children were the Big Bad Wolf and the Dragon. Everyone loved it!

It was a chilly Halloween, so we used my daughters gray pea coat (from old navy on sale!) and used a $10 adult red velvet hood from Walmart that I cut to size so that it covered her enough to keep her warm. She wore a red Christmas dress that still fit her and some thick black tights and shoes she already had. It was a perfect match!

The second photo shows my son as well. We bought his " huntsmen" costume on EBay for $10.00.
