Homemade Christmas Ornaments: Poppy Snowman

Submitted by Sharon Grant of IN

"Poppy the Snowman"

Really simple and the result is pleasing.

Take one white tube sock (we used men's) and fill the bottom third with rice, about 2 cups. Tie it off at the top of the rice and fill the middle third with about 1 1/2 cups more rice. Tie this off at the top of it as well. Go to the top of the last third and fill with about 3/4 cup rice and tie it off also after bringing the top of the sock down

Add 2-3 medium buttons to his front and 2 small buttons for his eyes. Small black beads for his mouth or sharpie dots and a piece of orange felt cut into a small, sharp carrot nose. To finish him, cut a small piece of material into a strip and tie it like a scarf.

Before you know it, you have a snowman friend. You could make a whole family using different size socks and adjusting the amount of rice.
