Homemade Halloween Costumes: Chess Queen and King

Submitted by Darcy R. of Florida

Chess queen and king costumes 1

"Chess Queen and King"

This is a set of Chess Pieces costumes I created.

The Chess King and Queen both have simple A-line dresses with boning in the hem and then an extension of fabric added at the bottom to give the chess piece the appearance of a base. Trim was glued to the hem area for decoration.

The crowns are made from 1/4 inch foam covered with fabric. The top center of the crowns are halves of large plastic Easter eggs painted to match the fabric and glued in place. The collars are made from the 1/4 inch foam also. They are covered in fabric and the trim is glued on.

They are both lightweight and comfortable to wear.
