Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the envelope system, budgeting per category and using cash for your expenses as to not overspend. What I don't like is the envelope itself. It's not very friendly to coins and if you're as frugal as I am, every single penny counts so I don't want to be losing coins all over the place.

I took the concept of the envelope budgeting system and used a few pretty cosmetic-bags I had lying around the house instead. They're functional, they're cute, and it helps me actually stick to my budgeting goals.
Face it, plain envelopes aren't intriguing or exciting. Using a different small zippered bag for each category is though. And chances are, you already have several at the house not being used anyway. Try it out!
If you feel like you'll forget which bag contains which budget category, you can stick a label on it, or place a note card inside with the title, as well as lines to write your expenses if you're into details.
Have fun budgeting again, without losing any coins along the way!
