Better Budgeting: Mini Pizza Kits to Go

Mini Pizza Kits to Go

Money Saving Tip of the Month (featured column)

My daughter loves pizza and lately she likes mini ones made at home on English Muffins or other flat bread.

Yesterday when I made some of these for her I was left with a half can of pizza sauce. I thought to myself, I am so tired of throwing this stuff away after it sits in the fridge for a week unused. So, I made up mini pizza kits.

First, I froze the remaining sauce in ice-cube trays. When frozen, I packaged them up, two cubes to a little snack bag. Then using a sandwich bag, I added additional mini bags of cheese and pepperoni and the package of pizza sauce and an English muffin.

Each bag is ready to make mini pizzas on a moment's notice, which is a relief when I'm thinking drive thru before dance class. Now I won't have to throw out the leftovers or wonder if I have everything in the house.

Once I use the last one, I can add the items to my grocery list again!
