Simple Wedding Dress Improved

Money Saving Tip of the Month (featured column)

Planning a wedding can be expensive, but one thing you can save on the most and not have it show is on your wedding dress.

Look for a plain white or cream prom dress from a major department store such as Macy's. You can find dresses for as cheap as $80-$100 if you are open to ideas. One that would work best to embellish on your own would be an A-line plain dress.

Then go to the fabric or craft store, and for a fraction of the cost of what it would be to order a dress with all the embellishments, you can purchase bags of crystal beads and sequins, and sew lace trim on your dress.

Another option would be to find a wide band of lace with floral designs, and cut them into individual flowers to sew onto the dress and embellish with any beads or sequins as you would like.

The cost for doing this with my own wedding dress came to a total of $120 and it was beautiful!
