Think Before You Throw

Money Saving Tip of the Month (featured column)
submitted by Shelley Hill

Whenever you throw something away, stop and think: "Can I reuse this?", "Can I recycle this?", "Can someone else use this?"

Can food be composted, rewarmed for leftovers, fed to our pet?

Can plastic containers be washed and reused or recycled?

Can junk mail be cut apart for scrap paper or recycled?

Can clothing be donated, refashioned, cut up for cleaning rags?

We have cut down our trash bill dramatically by thinking before we throw something away.
