Homemade Christmas Ornaments: Dallas Cowboys

Submitted by Jennifer Whipple of Illinois

Dallas cowboys ornament 1

"Dallas Cowboys Elf"

Each year since 1996 we vote as a family on the theme for our individual homemade ornaments. This year we decided on Elves! My husband did a Santa Elf, one daughter did a princess elf, another daughter did a toymaker elf. As a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, I decided on a Dallas Cowboys Football player elf! Very unique, doubt you'll see one anywhere else! He has my last name on the back of his Jersey, an "08" for the 2008 year, and hopefully, with a little elf magic, he will help the Cowboys make it to the Super bowl! YAY!

How to make the ornament at home:

We started off with a large bell for the bottom half of the elf, a small plastic ball ornament for the head. using a small drill tool we put a hole in the bottom of the ball ornament. Dropping a string down through the top of the ornament and through the top portion of the bell to create a loop to hand the ornament from. We then hot glued the ornament head to the bell. We used acrylic paints to paint the clothes (some used material) and I used felt for the arms and football he is holding, Small Google eyes can be used or you can paint the eyes on. I painted the cheeks and mouth on too.
