Homemade Christmas Ornaments: Friendship Santa Hat

Submitted by Matthew R. of Washington

Friendship santa hat 1

"Friendship Santa Hat"

I thought it would be fun to make an ornament to commemorate our friendship.  Recommend this to go on a large tree.

Supplies needed:

Santa Hat $.60, regularly $2.50 (after Christmas sale)
Large plastic ornament $.50 for 2, regularly $5 (after Christmas sale)
Picture of friend $.13 for a 4x6
2 ornament hangers $.99 for 50
drinking straw (washed and reused)
Tape
Newspaper

How I made it:

I took a digital photo and had a 4x6 professional print made. I cut out the silhouette of my friend's head. Then I attached the photo to the ornament. I attached the bottom of the straw to the ornament with a hanger. At the top of the straw I attached another hanger and poked it through the hat so the ornament could hang up. I stuffed the hat with newspaper and taped the brim of the hat to the ornament.
