Christmas Wrapping Paper on a Budget

Money Saving Tip of the Month (featured column)
submitted by Jenn A.

Last year I didn't have money for fancy wrapping paper at Christmas, so I bought a large roll of craft mural paper at IKEA - look for art or school supply stores - for $7.99. I figured it would cover all my gifts with some left over for my daughter to draw on.

After the presents were wrapped I gave my daughter (then 2 years old) some crayons and she decorated the craft paper. After wrapping all the presents you could barely tell we'd used any paper.

I've wrapped birthday presents all year, my daughter has used it for crafts, and there is still enough to wrap presents this year and for a few years to come from the looks of it!

Not only did I save money by not buying a dozen rolls of festive paper, I had it available all year round for other purposes. And everyone felt they had gotten a special treat because my daughter decorated their present.
