Ruined Fudge Fix

Money Saving Tip of the Month (featured column)
submitted by Nancy of Ohio

My tip has to do with what to do when your fudge is ruined!

This year I made my annual holiday candies, however, my fudge did NOT turn out. It was dry and crumbly. I was devastated. I hate to use expensive ingredients and then not have anything to show for it.

Well, as I was thinking about what I could use this crumbly fudge for, my daughter asked for some hot chocolate. A light bulb went off in my head.

I took two pieces of the crumbly fudge and smashed them to a powder using my fingers. Then I heated up some milk on the stove, stirred in the fudge powder and mixed it up until, voila, instant hot chocolate. It was delicious!

I put the rest of the fudge in the food processor and ground it all into a fine powder. Then I put the powder in a glass jar and stored it in the refrigerator. Now we can have the most delicious hot chocolate on a whim.

My family calls it liquid fudge, and everyone, not just the children, love it!
