Wedding Shower Table Centerpiece Gifts

Money Saving Tip of the Month (featured column)
submitted by Dawn of Tennessee

Here is what we did at the wedding shower our family gave for my niece. Instead of the usual centerpieces of flowers, photographs, etc., for the tables, I wanted to make it colorful and interesting as well as USEFUL for the bride-to-be!

Each hostess was responsible for decorating one of the guest tables (luckily we had 8 hostesses and 8 tables to accommodate our 60+ guests).

The table decorations were to be color-coordinated with the theme color of the shower (we used a jewel-tone purple). The centerpieces were the gifts from each hostess placed on the table unwrapped. We coordinated all of the tables by using the same color tissue paper, ribbons and silk flowers.

My centerpiece was an outdoor/gardening decoration: Door mat, hand-painted purple flower pot with the couple's initial, planted with purple and white petunias, grapevine wreath decorated in fall colors, gardening gloves and small gardening tools.

Other centerpieces from our shower included:

Bath towels and washcloths tied with purple ribbons in a purple wicker basket.

Barbecue centerpiece including a small foam color wrapped in purple tissue paper, BBQ utensils, a BBQ apron with the couple's name in iron-on letters, and BBQ sauce.

Kitchen centerpiece with placemats, dish towels, and dishcloths, decorated with ribbons and purple flowers.

Baking gifts centerpiece with a muffin pan, cookie sheet, cake mix with icing, muffin mix, and apron.

Room decor centerpiece with decorator items from the bridal registry.

Vase centerpiece with candle.

Other ideas that could be used:

Office centerpiece with tape, pens, post-it notes, markers, paper clips, glue in a decorative basket.

Handyman basket with screwdriver, hammer, wrench, duct tape in a decorated bucket.

Gourmet basket, containing vinegars, oils, herbs (dried or potted), spices, flavored salts and peppers.

We had several comments from the guests as well as the bride on how pretty everything looked and what a great idea it was.
